This is a reprint from the Jan 1 2009 edition. I'd have thought you would have read in between the lines, but since you're just now beginning to take a hard look around Westport, consider this a courtesy re-posting.

First, Ruth and I know that many people are thrilled that 2008 is finally behind us all, so on behalf of the entire Madoff family, we wish you all a happy, healthy, and of course, a conservatively prosperous New Year!

My first New Year's resolution is to clarify my relationship with Noel Levine..The handsome fellow to the right, along with his wife Harriet, who is a good friend of Ruth's.
1. Yes, Noel's company Troon Mgt. has the same address as my firm. So what?
2. Yes, Noel is an executive of The Bank of Greenwich in Greenwich, CT. So what?
3. Yes, Noel is extremely philanthropic, and the Noel and Harriet Levine Foundation has, according to the news reports that I've seen anyway, have donated millions. Whatever his issues might be with the IRS are things I'd have no knowledge about.

4. I wouldn't have any idea whether Noel has friends at the National Bank of Westport in Westport, CT. Yes, Noel is friends with Richard Sontag, and Richard used to be on the board of another bank in Westport. All of that said, lots of people know lots of people, and I really can't say that I know who at that bank administered BLM investments on behalf of their custodial accounts. Only because I'm busy chewing on a delicious bagel with novy from Sable's.

5. Speaking of Westport, CT--Ruth and I have only been there a few times (since my son Mark lives in Greenwich, we've taken a drive up there to see how the somewhat less affluent live)..Its actually a beautiful town, with a wonderful beach, and some great places to eat. Ruth said she loves a place called Positano. Its on the water, and its really not too expensive.
