Legal Commentary

I've now been doing this job long enough (6 years on 2 coasts) that the rhythms of the profession are comfortably familiar.  If it's June, it's summer.  And that means:

(1) A push to finish grading (mercifully completed early this year).

(2) A couple of trips to conferences in kid-friendly locales.  (Montreal was lovely and SEALS--where I get to share a panel with Prawfs-blogger Steve Vladeck among others--is almost around the corner.)

(3) One real family vacation, sans work, in the most perfect coastal town in the nation.

(4) A chance to throw myself into my writing.  (This summer I have an early, self-imposed pre-tenure deadline for an article on the history and theory of the doctrinal super-structure we have built over the Due Process Clauses and then will be turning my attention to a big new project about the ways in which constitutional theorists deal with "constitutional culture.")

(5) A lot of time predicting, analyzing, and commenting on the Supreme Court's end-of-term work product.  (Thanks to Dan and the other Prawfs for giving me an excuse and a forum.)
