Critics say changes would 'gut' mine-safety law (Louisville Courier-Journal)

A leading advocate charged yesterday that a surprise amendment approved yesterday by a Senate committee would "gut" the landmark 2007 mine-safety law enacted partly in response to a fatal mine explosion in Harlan County.
