A book written by a friend of hers had recently rocketed onto the New York Times bestseller list and Stewart wanted to sue the author and the publisher for libel. ?It was the first time I had ever taken anything like this on,? says Jeffrey Horst. ?Initially I thought, ?well, this is going to be a tough case.? We knew they had deep pockets on the other side and St. Martin?s Press was going to go to matt over this.?
