A Fresno County Superior Court jury decided last Friday that it was unable to reach a verdict in the trial of Jesse David Alvarez, who was accused of seriously wounding a woman while trying to kill her father in September 2004.
Jurors were split 8-4, but they gave no indication as to whether they were leaning towards guilt or innocence. They deliberated for six hours before delivering the note to the judge announcing their deadlock.
This was the third time Alvarez had been tried on charges of two counts of attempted murder and assault with a firearm. For details about the case, click here.
