: GamePolitics.comBruckheimer May Be Victim of Viacom Sell-Off
By james_fudge
While Viacom shops its entire games unit - including Harmonix - one of the first victims of such a sell-off could be one of Hollywood's biggest producers. The deal that the producer of "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "CSI" signed nearly three years ago may be left on the side of the road.
Bruckheimer Games, which is co-owned by Jerry Bruckheimer and MTV, brought Jay Cohen, a former senior vice president of Ubisoft, as president of development in 2009.
The studio reportedly has two console games in development. The Viacom announcement makes the future of these games unclear; will Bruckheimer Games complete its deal with MTV, find a new publishing partner, self-publish the games or kill them off and move on?
We don't know.
