Hi-Rez Acquires Tribes from GarageGames for Online Game

Global Agenda developer Hi-Rez Studios has acquired the rights to Sierra Games' popular online team shooter franchise TRIBES. The deal gives Hi-Rez the power to create a game that utilizes all the popular elements from the game. Instant Action, which owns GarageGames, claimed that a Tribes game was in the works, but at this point we can mark that effort down as officially dead.

Global Agenda, Hi-Rez Studios' other online military combat game will continue to have a dedicated team working on support, updates, etc. The company's developmental muscle will be divided into two groups: A Tribes team and a Global Agenda team.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed..
