: GamePolitics.comJapan's Most Pirated Game: Dissidia Final Fantasy
By james_fudge
Siliconera, by way of Joystiq digs into the Consumer Entertainment Software Association piracy figures, revealing that - at least in Japan - Square Enix's Final Fantasy fighting game for the PSP, Dissidia: Final Fantasy, was the most pirated game.
Dissidia: Final Fantasy was allegedly downloaded a whopping 5.2 million times. Sega's Phantasy Star Portable 2 for PSP was downloaded 4.6 million times, while KOEI's Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce was downloaded 2 million times. Joystiq points out that, while these select games were downloaded millions of times, a lot of other top twenty games in Japan were only downloaded "thousands of times." The point being that only really big titles seem to be hardcore victims of the piracy community in that region. On a side note, these numbers prove that there really is no accounting for taste..
