Virtual sponsorship in videogames is nothing new - companies have been doing it in sports game for as long as I can remember - but MicroTech and THQ are taking it to a virtual world level once again. MicroTech is serving as the sponsor of six virtual UFC fighters in UFC Undisputed 2010, according to a press release issued by the company this week. MicroTech is a provider of high-definition video communications and strong supporter of professional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
The company is sponsoring some fairly big names in the UFC including Forrest Griffin, Cain Velasquez, Mike Swick, Jon Fitch, Josh Koscheck, and Gray Maynard. MicroTech's virtual sponsorship follows its real world support of other fighters at major UFC shows including Josh Koscheck's recent victory at UFC 113 in Montreal, and at charity events like Military Appreciation Night and Fight for the Troops.
