: GamePolitics.comPirate Party Invades Oregon
By james_fudge
There's a new political party in Oregon and it may be familiar to GP readers. The Oregon Pirate Party has filed paperwork with the Oregon secretary of state's office to join the list of parties in the state. A party needs 20,963 registered voters to establish itself in the state according to the rules, but it is unknown at this time if this group meets that threshold.
While the group hasn't filed an official platform with the Secretary of State, it follows the same platform as the United States Pirate Party, which is modeled after the Pirate Party in Europe. These groups support the general free flow of information, government transparency, net neutraltiy, and oppose abusive copyright laws and treaties that punish consumers unduly. You can find out more about the Oregon Pirate Party at arregon.org.
