Bentzen Funding Solutions: CT Woman "Press" Impetus For State Registration?

By John Darer

ADVERTISEMENTS

It is our position that factoring companies and "cash now pushers" should be licensed and follow state business and corporate formalities just like the rest of us.

We broke the story about "The CT Woman" debacle involving Bentzen Funding Solutions on April 14, 2009 (see Bentzen Funding Solutions Not Paying For Factoring Deals on Time" In addition to the absurd delays in payment for a structured settlement that was referred for factoring about a month after it was set up by the same structured settlement broker.  we discovered that Bentzen Funding Solutions was not registered to do business in the State of Connecticut. and reported "that according to published information, it has been within the purview of the Attorney General of the  State of Connecticut Richard Blumenthal to sue out of state companies for failing to register with the Connecticut Secretary of State PRIOR to doing business in Connecticut.  See C.G.S. 34-233 entitled "Transacting Business Without Registration".

I'm pleased to report that we have evidence that Bentzen Funding Solutions filed a registration in the State of Connecticut on May 27, 2009.

This author encourages those factoring companies that do business with Connecticut citizens to follow suit.

This author also encourages structured settlement consultants who refer business to factoring companies or any other business to check to see whether or not the company is registered to business in the State. The referral source to the CT Woman was a structured settlement broker.

This author those who are bothered by abuses of any company in the factoring industry to search the corporate/LLC registry of the Secretary of State in their state and report the facts to the attorney general in their state.
