The "Britney Spears" of the Settlement Industry?

By John Darer

ADVERTISEMENTS

Is Rhonda Bentzen headed into the abyss like Britney Spears Britney_spears_3 or what?  It sure seems like SHE has pushed the self destruct button.

in her latest post Bentzen has now given prima facie evidence to the entire structured settlement industry of a significant reason NOT to do business with her. A reasonable question to structured settlement brokers and settlement planners, inspired by her lack of discretion and self control is "what has she spilled about YOU to me , about YOU to others and strategic business intelligience about your business to others?"  Is this appropriate behavior for a vendor? Bentzen states on December 12, 2007 "after all, I have been told by many that it is my gossip column that you enjoy most!"

Bentzen has made highly inappropriate disclosures, true or untrue, concerning a number of married members of our industry which could affect their marriages. Some of them know that I know and where the leak is. She has also spilled on who she pays vig to and which two general agents have asked for cuts of the referral fees paid to their brokers. The woman couldn't wait to dance on JP Steele's departure from AIG/American General yet missed more important news such as the Mangelsdorf acquisition by IFS Corp, the holding company of SFA, EPS and Millennium.

As to her "revelations" concerning me, Bentzen needs to get her facts straight before she publishes. Our web site fully discloses our business practice.

And this is the gatekeeper to the Society of Settlement Planners?  Is the SSP "protecting" its "patron" Rhonda Bentzen because "she knows all the dirt"?
