By Anne Skove, Esq.
Is your job thankless?
We believe court employees are among the least-thanked. They deal with cranky, stressed-out members of the public and their attorneys (who may be of equal or worse disposition).
They are not highly-compensated, although the legal system depends on them for everything from scheduling cases to making crucial forms available to keeping the courthouse safe.
The public has little idea that they exist and almost no idea what they do. In good times, we all forget that they put their lives on the line.
So it's refreshing to hear that the Supreme Court of Ohio cited (in a good way) six employees for excellence:
- Sandra Huth Grosko, Case Management Counsel and former Interim Clerk of Court, Pickering
- Elizabeth Minor, Payroll Officer, Office of Human Resources, Galloway
- Robin Smith, Building Operation Manager, Office of Facilities Management, Hamilton Township
- Rosey White, Bar Admissions Coordinator, Office of Bar Admissions
- Phillip A. Farmer, Print Production Specialist, Print Production Center, Supreme Court Office of Public Information
- James Shroyer, Print Production Specialist, Print Production Center, Supreme Court Office of Public Information

To court employees and the courts who appreciate them, keep up the good work!
P.S. If you're wondering whether court-o-rama was on winter break the past two days, the answer is no. We're not too highly-compensated, either! It had nothing to do with the writers' strike, we were just too darn busy.
