Remember Chuck?

Once upon a time we brought you If It Smells Bad... (January 22, 2008), recounting (briefly) shenaningans from the Harris County, Texas, DA's office.

So what ever happened to DA Chuck Rosenthal and his "dozens of pornographic, racist and political e-mails" he tried to delete from his office computer?

Recall, this is the same DA who extended a grand jury's term to give them enough time to indict a particular justice.

The short answer is: nothing.

Not enough evidence was produced to bring charges against the now-former DA, who resigned in February amid the e-mail scandal.

However, Rosenthal was found in contempt of court and ordered to pay sanctions for deleting e-mails in the face of a court order for production.

See Ex-Houston Prosecutor Avoids Charges over E-mails, Monica Rhor, AP (December 2, 2008).

You're probably wondering who won the Chuck Rosenthal Haiku Contest. It does not appear that a winner was ever declared, although there are plenty of entries. Judge for yourself!
