Cab Hits Two Long Island Children Walking Home from School

A livery cab struck two children as they walked home from the Charles A. Mulligan School in Central Islip, NY, reports WABC-TV New York.

The accident happened Monday afternoon about 3 p.m. as Kevin Amaya, 11, and Mario Quintanilla, 13, crossed the street at the intersection of Suffolk Avenue and Lowell Avenue. Police told the news station the children were crossing the street, but not in the crosswalk.

Ambulances transported Quintanilla, who suffered head injuries, to Southside Hospital and Amaya to Good Samaritan for treatment of a broken leg, arm and facial injuries where doctors listed both in serious condition.
