: Atlanta Personal Injury LawyerPedestrian Hit by Car in Georgia
By Jessica Smagacz
A car hit a woman from Macon, Georgia this past Thursday morning. She was crossing Jeffersonville Road near Hitchcock Road around 8:30 a.m., reported Macon.com.
The woman was Amirrah Giddens, 28 years old. She was taken to the hospital with injuries 'that did not appear to be life-threatening.'
She complained of injuries to her head and legs after being hit by the mirror on the driver's side of a maroon Cadillac traveling eastbound.
She was immediately taken by ambulance to the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Apparently, Giddens made the cut through a path across the street to make her way to the convenience store frequently, a clerk at the Citgo station at the junction of Ga. 57 and U.S. 80 said.
The name of the driver has not been released and will not be charged with the accident.
The driver told the investigator that 'he saw her slow down as she crossed into the middle turn lane and the driver thought she was going to stop but she kept on walking.'
We hope that Giddens recovers from this accident.
Do you know what do to if you are in a car accident? As our past post discussed, here is what you need to know if you are in a car accident:
Immediately call the police. When the police arrive, they know exactly what to do. The police will also create a police report after interviewing all witnesses and determining who is at fault.
Make sure everyone else is safe.
Gather information. You must get the other driver's information such as the vehicle's VIN number, insurance information, and license plate number.
Seek medical attention/help. Car accidents can cause serious injuries, even injuries that do not arise until much later after the car accident. It is important to see a doctor to evaluate your condition.
If you have a camera, take pictures of the cars involved in the accident.
Call/seek an attorney.
According to Ezine articles, there are several things you MUST not do after you are in a car accident:
Admit fault; leave the scene; wait for insurance companies to contact you or take too much time to call an attorney; sign anything without knowing what the papers say or means.
