A 14-year-old driver crashed his car in Sunnyside on Tuesday morning, according to State Troopers. Both he and his 16-year-old passenger were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Both boys are from Sunnyside, but their names were not released. According to the news release from the Washington State Patrol, the 14-year-old was headed on East Edison Avenue about 8:45 a.m. in a 1992 BMW when he failed to yield for a stop sign. The car crossed State Route 241 and landed on its wheels in a canal on the north side of the road.
Although Troopers said they did not know whether the driver was wearing a seat belt, it appears that the passenger was. The news release indicated that intoxicants were not involved.
The cause of the Sunnyside car accident and any charges remained under investigation.
