: Des Moines Personal Injury LawyerA Wintry I-35 Has Many Challenges for Motorists from Minnesota to Texas
By Steve Lombardi
Jeremy Thurman writes 'Tis the Season to Drink and Drive' reminding us of the serious consequences of drinking and driving to holiday parties. The New Year is behind us but the real New Year is upon us requiring more than just lip service to the need to watch how much you drink before getting behind the wheel. What I found interesting about Jeremy's post was his description of how I-35 is used as a connection to Oklahoma City, Norman, Moore and Edmond. Like the situation in Oklahoma here in central Iowa we have a similar situation with Des Moines, Ankeny, West Des Moines, Urbandale, Clive, Waukee, Newton, Ames, Marshalltown, Mason City and all the other cities and towns that people use I-35 and I-80 as a way to commute. Often times we think the interstate highways will be safer, but as we've seen again and again the increase in traffic is putting pressure on the highway departments to keep up with maintenance, repairs and traffic control. If you add texting while driving or drinking alcohol certainly neither of those situations will help the interstates to be safer.

It looks like the interstates in central Minnesota were relatively safer on New Years Eve but the next day the carnage again increased. New Years Highway Deaths Follow A Quiet New Years Eve, Jan. 2, 2009, Mike Bryant. Mike talks about a Wisconsin snowmobile-car collision involving at least 6 or 7 people.
Interstate 35 is a part of the United States Interstate Highway system running north-south from Duluth, Minnesota (at an intersection known as the Can of Worms) to Laredo, Texas. Its length is 1568.38 miles (2,524.06 km).
That's enough for today, but come back tomorrow to read The Verdict blog/blawg at Lombardi Law Firm where we will discuss other car-truck-semi-motorcycle accidents in Iowa. And as always if you are in an accident and need legal services we encourage you to call us sooner, rather than later. In Texas contact Brooks Schuelke for assistance. In Minnesota we recommend you call upon Mike Bryant with Bradshaw and Bryant for legal advice. In Oklahoma Noble McIntyre serves those with I-35 collision or accident questions.
