Woman Files Suit Against Texas Hospital Over Rape Kit

An Austin, Texas woman has filed a lawsuit against St. David?s Hospital, alleging the hospital refused to give her a sexual assault exam, which violates state law. According to the suit, the woman went to the hospital after being raped, but was told she would not be examined unless she pressed charges. Requiring rape victims to press charges before being given a rape kit was an old state law that was changed in October of last year.
