Who did kill Melissa Britt Lewis, aka ?Missy??

I'm back on the trail of the Britt-Lewis murder investigation with another question that for me raises serious concerns about the 'who done it'. Look at this video footage from Just News out of Miami and see if you think there is more than just a Cadillac missing.

Did you hear her 'best friend' speaking? That's Debra Villegas being interviewed by the media. She was a coworker at the law firm where they both were employed. That's the same law firm where Scott Rothstein ran a billion dollar Ponzi scheme.

There is something very unsettling about this footage. And it's not what is said so much as what is not being said. Go back again and listen to what she isn't saying.

Consider the circumstances in March 2008. Debra is working at RRA. (The Lawfirm. There you go John Grisham there's the title of your next book.) And according to reports she's the office manager, and on a daily basis very close to Scott Rothstein; who now stands accused of various financial crimes amounting to over $1 Billion. Her best friend is missing; and under suspicious circumstances. At this point what would you wonder about; about whom you suspect as having a motive to kill your lawyer co-worker? Might you wonder out loud about a connection with the financial fraud going on at the office? Wouldn't a best friend go right to the police and point out what is not-so-obvious to the public? Shouldn't the police be told there is a massive financial scheme operating at the office where the missing person works?

PERHAPS SHE KNEW NOTHING OF THE PONZI SCHEME

Did she know? What if your best friend was murdered and you have knowledge or even suspicions of financial wrongdoings at the place of employment where you both worked. Would you wonder if there is a connection with your best friend's murder and those involved? Could you look into the camera and not say anything about … well you fill in the blanks. What if anything did the best friend know about the financial shenanigans at the office in March 2008? Perhaps she knew nothing and was just being paid well to do a job. I think there are reports of cars being given as gifts: true or false. Is there any evidence that in March 2008 she knew what Rosthstein was doing? It might be interesting to know what Scott Rothstein is saying to the FBI about who knew and especially in March 2008.

Being pretty sure isn't good enough under criminal laws in America.

I've been covering the disappearance of Melissa Britt Lewis since her death in March 2008. At that time I wondered from afar about the motive for someone to kill Melissa. I'm still wondering. Apparently the police have accused her friend's husband of the crime. I've expressed reservations about the motive being put forward by the prosecution. And after watching this video footage I have even more concerns about the guilt of the criminal defendant, Tony Villegas. In fairness to the prosecutor they have the files and know the evidence, I don't.

Who killed Melissa Britt Lewis and why? That question haunts her family and it should haunt her best friend. If I were Tony Villegas' criminal defense attorneys I'd be discovering what Debra told the police at the Plantation Police Department right after Missy turned up missing; the PPD were investigating the murder. I'd want to know what she said to the police about possible suspects right after Melissa disappeared; because that might tell us a lot about other suspects and other possible motives that at the time seemed much more credible. It's surprising that the police weren't investigating RRA sooner than they did. It makes me wonder what the best friend did tell the police and whether or not she knew of the RRA financial dealings. If one could discover evidence that during March of 2008 Debra knew of financial wrongdoing at RRA, but said nothing to the police, then that would raise credibility questions about her testimony. And credibility is what counts when you take the witness stand. When character is lacking most often so is the truth.
